Ban the Drier:
Of course, be sure not to waste energy, either, by switching to “line” drying your clothes. Ban the drier! Energy and water are tied in a knot together. First, many energy sources like coal and nuclear require vast amounts of water that are depleting vital water supplies! Second, burning coal or gas creates more climate change, which impacts the availability of water because water will be evaporating faster, and we expect more extreme weather, including droughts. Driers are one very simple way to reduce your energy usage.
Personally, I don’t use an outdoor clothesline although this is a fine solution. I can dry a big load of laundry by putting wet clothes on hangars and drying them along the shower curtain rod, with the small items going on a wooden drier rack. Putting wet clothes on hangars may seem to be a burden, but it makes them easier to put away, so there is no extra time, really. Save money- don’t even buy a drier. Save energy which helps save the environment. I can’t even remember when I used a clothes drier- decades ago, for sure.
